Howdy Guys,

Okie Dokie, I'm having an issue with Magic as a Whole, for one, I feel I have hit a creative wall. For two a large majority of Magic I watch now, such as demo videos for new effects or even magic on TV, I can't really get into anymore. Either I feel it's blatantly obvious of the method or I'm just not entertained, Or even worse I won't perform something because I think too much like a magician and not enough like a spectator.

So I suppose my question would be is once your magical knowledge starts getting in the way of you actually enjoying watching and leargning new magic what do you do. I hate this, I have been interested since I was three and it's been a big crutch for me throughout my life, but I'm missing that sense of wonder anymore. I intend to take a break for a while after my last stage show which is this month, but what else can I do?

Watch other magicians. And when I say that, I don't mean go look at all the DVD trailers on T11 and Ellusionist etc. I mean go to youtube and watch their acts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvH7z0LcVr4&feature=fvst That youtube link is Soma's phone act that he won FISM with. I was floored for the most part...it is absolutely brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPsUJbJaKhE This link is Derren Brown's "Enigma." It is an hour and fifteen minute long video but it is totally worth it, totally inspiring, and totally brilliant.

Another thing you could do is explore different types and styles of magic and you may find you like some other style better than whatever you may do now!
