I have been performing mentalism and hypnosis for the last 3 years and I consider myself to be new. Mentalism is easy to perform in a bad way and when most magicians try to perform it, it becomes boring and painful to watch. I am aware, there are Mentalists who perform in a bad way. Most magicians don't understand that the principles, psychology and presentation are what makes it plausible and if what you are performing isn't plausible you aren't performing mentalism. Asking the spectator to write someone's name and then revealing it isn't interesting to watch. The obsession with complicated methods and thinking the method is the most important thing in the performance isn't right.
