Not so much a magic question.

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you knew what the type effect that Daniel Madison has at the end of some of his books is called. It's his name written out in a black stylized font. And it can be read the same from multiple views. (i.e. upside-down) Granted this is not a magic question. But I figured that since it pertained to Daniel that someone here would know.

These writings which appear the same upside down are called ambigrams. They have been recently popularized in the novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, but they have been around for quite a while. Most of them are the same upside down and right side up, but there are a few that look the same with only a 90 degree rotation.

This website can preview some ambigrams for you, and you can order them on things like mugs and t-shirts.

If you ever see words which are one word right side up, and another word upside down, then those are caled symbiograms.

Thank you so much. I asked two of my professors at my school and they had no idea what I was talking about. I always seem to look for the stuff that requires the most digging around. lol Thank you again though this will really make my projects stand out.

Whilst ambigram generators get the job done, I find that they usually end up looking a lot better if you draw your own. You could use the generator as a template, but a human can do these better than a computer. It takes a bit of practice to get good looking ones, but if you put the time in, you can get awesome results. A friend of mine was obsessed with ambigrams and symbiograms for a while, and his were looking really good after a bit of practice.
