because i heard mixed thoughts. and i wanted to get others opinion in general.

In this case, it isn't really a matter of opinion. Richard Osterlind does both and that's all there is to it. If someone were to say "No! He does pure mentalism!" I can provide several "mental magic" effects in his repertoire and vice versa.
