20th century silks 12 or 18 inch?? I have small hands - will it matter?

I that the difference is the method for a vanish. For a 12 you can use a TT. For the 18, You need a pull or a hank ball. The 12 is for close up and small parlor shows, the 18 is for s large parlor / stage.
