I would recommend going through the phone's contact list/text messages sent and received. As well as checking the note for anything you might've missed, such as using a blacklight.

Who said the phone was the major, or only, clue? Who said that we can discern stuff from the note, or from what we can see of the phone (i.e., the screen)?
