UNO card deck

I use UNO cards instead of playing cards in my magic performances. It's hard to explain why. mostly because it's obvious that they're not gimmicked and the comedy of it gets great reactions. Anyways, UNO cards stick together a lot more than normal playing cards do and it makes them somewhat hard to work with. Fanning the cards well is nearly impossible. Pretty much I need the cards to be a lot more slick. Any help on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks.

Texa$, with a dollar sign
Either you try with fanning powder, or you get a customized deck of UNO cards made up by Bicycle or another card company that can specialize in that sort of thing. You need cards with a good finish and a custom deck WILL do just that.

I recently had the idea of using Pokemon and Yugioh cards, but I ran into the same problem after going to a comic shop recently: They fan and shuffle like a garbage can. Made me remember why we used card protectors.

Do you have problems with them realizing that you have a ton of duplicate cards?

Not really, I mean there was once that that was mentioned as a joke. It was someone elses deck and everyone was using them before so it was pretty obvious that there was duplicates. It's not really ever a problem, a lot of people don't even realize there's duplicates. Usually I show them they're all different before the trick or the card is signed.
That's actually something I've never considered. I'll see if I can routine to try to avoid that. Thanks for the input.

OK so there's one step closer, there's a better finish on bicycle cards. I didn't think of that. I'm not sure how custom uno cards from bicycle would work out with copyright laws.
how well does fanning powder really work and where should I get it?

I work for Cartamundi and we produce the Uno products for Mattel. We on request do not use the highest "slip" coating on these cards. Coatings will vary greatly based on formula and the desired effect. We have different formulas for game, collectible, playing and casino cards

The stock, finish and durability is completely different from UNO to bicycle decks. UNO cards just aren't made for magic.. That doesn't mean you can't use them, it just makes them difficult to use. Here's a trick created by Kyle Marlet using the cards.

that's pretty cool I didn't know there were any tricks specifically for uno cards. It's not a completely amazing trick but it's still pretty good.
