What is Magic?

This exact question was presented to me recently and it really made me stop and think. I went over the possible answers I could relay and the only one that really appealed to me was this one...
"You know that feeling you get after I've shown you a really great effect where you have no idea how it's done and you're left in a state of complete awe? To me.....THAT is magic."

That was my answer then and that was my answer now.

I think you missed the point... or maybe I'm missing yours, I'm not sure. For me, magic isn't the effect. Magic, at least true magic, is the impression you leave behind on people. It's why I do what I do and why I continue to hone and perfect my craft...because I want more people to know that magic does exist, but it's not in what I perform; those are tricks. The real magic lies in the connections I create with people. That's the magic....that will always be the magic to me.
