What is the anti-faro used for?

  1. Hello everybody...
I have seen different magicians on YouTube do anti-faro...but I never understood what can it be used for.So what is it used for?
  2. In most cases, it is more of a magician's move. Few people can do it perfectly very consistently, and a very small portion of those people find a use for it.

However, some people have found uses for it. For example, in the Anit-Faro DVD, it is explained how you can do effects using it without requiring a perfect one.

  5. Oh I thought he meant Anti-Faro as in the Card-Spring-like move in the Christain Engblom DVD

(Seeing as he said the thing he's been seeing on YouTube)

  6. With the anti-faro you can remove a shuffle. That's incredible in itself and the applications are endless if you can master it.

There are a handful of routines in Mathematical Magic by Persi Diaconis that use it. Generally you perform it openly by dealing the deck into two alternative piles. Woody Aragon and Juan Tamariz have both created magic using the move like that.

Recently, there have been a bunch of methods that allow you to do the move somewhat secretly with a normal deck. That's a big thing.

By the way I can't do it :p...So I'll look forward to use it when I learn it.
