American Disability Association Gig in NY

Hey guys! Here is the footage of my show at the Long Island American Disability Association gig I had two weeks ago. At the time I felt like the show wasn't the best because 99% of my tricks are based on audience reaction, and as this was an event for special needs teens and adults, I didn't get as much of a reaction as I am used to. I know I messed up slightly in my Fiber Optics routine and as a result of that sped up, however I feel that in a weird way it still worked. This was my first time using a mic as you can probably tell. Anyways I hope you enjoy!

As a side note, they liked me so much they hired me again for next year!

The experience is known as "earning your chops"... I've worked "retirement homes" in which most of the "guests" have one foot in the grave and can't follow much of anything, especially when they need to "think" or "remember" things :( But I can assure you that in time it will take you to some very sound opportunities.

SUGGESTION: Hit the area hospitals and offer to do shows once a month or something for the children's ward. I've done very well with this and working "homes" for wayward youth both (in my magician days, that is). The other area gigs you might want to look at are the "community" country clubs... not the high end "private" clubs but those that cater to the working class... it's a good stepping stone which is what I think you're trying to work with, right?

Keep on plug'n away;)

Thanks for the tips... right now I have a couple of daycare/school gigs, I'm hoping to get a few birthday parties going, I may be getting a restaurant in the next few months, and I do magic at the library. I am looking into areas nearby where I could do some free shows (other than the library) to improve my performances and to get noticed.
