Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I am interested in getting some books that enable a beginner to perform card magic with a borrowed deck and with very little setup. Anyone have suggestions?

Royal Road to Card Magic, by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue seems perfect for you.
You will learn the basics of sleight of hand as well as several magic tricks in the book.
You will have to make up your own patter though, because some most probably won't fit in the 21st century.

Oh man. Royal Road is great and should probably be the first book you get. Scarne on Card Tricks, Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic, and the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks are all great sources too.
