I would recomend you get a book called Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic. It's a wonderful encylcopidea of magical information that covers everything from close up to stage. That should give you a good feel for what direction you want to take. If you follow everyone else here into the card magic route, then I'd recomend Royal Road as your next purchase. DVD, or book. But I would recomend the DVD. Tarbell, and Card Colledge are also two other great book serries.
