Hey there,

in 2 weeks I have the oppurtunity to perform a short 10 minute closeup program for the local magician's circle but I feel like program I have so far isn't consistent enough. Or logical structured. It's not about learning a master progeam and new tricks. I just want to put together 3 tricks I'm already able to perform. I am planning on making a program about imagination and that you can achieve anything (coin bend using their imagination9 that you want and how choices influence youre life (Equivoque). I would finish with the message what you can achieve if you want to (coin bend) and start off by presenting the Equivoque but I lack a trick to put between them that would fit that. Maybe a Gypsy Thread?
Cheers
Philipp

Well most people here will tell you to stop and practice for 2 months before but i'll tell you one thing:

Make it emotional. It literally will mean the world to them if you can just touch their hearts.
On the top of my head for emotional tricks and ideas: Peter turner is the man to look at, Luke jermay's faith healer (although a bit to expensive to my liking) and love and war by jamie Daws

Normally I would tell you not to do it, but it's a bit different if you're performing for a magician's circle. I assume this is more of a club thing than a 'real' performance so it doesn't have to be as tight as I would expect for a paying audience.

Here's how I write a show:
Take a theme or idea. Make a huge metaphorical pile of everything you can do relating to that theme. Try to line them up in the most logical, story-telling order. Cut out everything that doesn't fit in the time frame by eliminating the less powerful tricks or the stuff that doesn't fit as well as you thought. Time it and make sure it actually fits. Adjust what needs adjusting and time it again. Do that until it's in the right time frame three times in a row.

I think 3 tricks is quite a lot for 10 minutes. I'll be honest - if I had only ten minutes, I would do one trick which takes about ten minutes to perform properly. Maybe two, since it's all magicians and they won't respond the same way as laymen.
