Very nice. I like it. Now you just need one of these beatiful girls Bannon always has in his videos ;)

No seriously, make sure to get Bannons and Montiers latest booklet 'Triabolical', with three packet tricks you will like and use.

This is a great routine. You can see John Bannon perform it in this video clip here (performance starts at 0:54):

John Bannon's Bullet Party video is available as a digital download from Penguin Magic, which I'm considering ordering. The physical DVD of Bullet Party comes with 13 cards.

Are the 13 cards that come with the DVD regular playing cards or are some gaffed cards included? And if they are standard playing cards, which ones are they?

I'm just wondering what cards I'd need to assemble from my collection in the event I do decide to go with the digital download from Penguin Magic.

For the effect Bullet Party - you need exactly what you see: three aces from a blue backed deck, an Ace of Spades from a red backed deck (can use blue backed if you want, but the different back reveal at the end adds another layer) and a blue backed joker. You write on the face of the blue backed aces and the back of the red back Ace of Spades.

The DVD includes the effects from the booklets Bullet Party and Mega 'Wave (which were republished in High Caliber with Bannon's other recent booklets). I have to go through those books to see what specialty cards you would need for those effects - but I'd expect that it is nothing more than blank face and multicolored back cards. I'll check later today.

OK, most of the effects are from Bullet Party or Mega 'Wave except for Final Verdict which is from Dear Mr. Fantasy.

There is nothing in the Bullet Party book that requires special cards (except for the Aces from two decks that you write on for the Bullet Party effect),

In the Mega 'Wave book, the effect Mega 'Wave requires three red backed jokers and a blue backed blank face card (red and blue colors can be switched), Short Attention Scam requires four Ace of Spades from different backed decks (e.g. Green, Orange, Purple, etc.) and a Royal Flush in spades from a blue (or red) backed deck.

Final Verdict uses a regular deck.

So if I was to guess, the 13 cards would be the cards for Mega Wave and Short Attention Scam.

Thanks David, great post and very helpful.

From what you describe, it sounds like the cards required for Short Attention Scam are identical to the ones used for Bannon's Royal Scam, right?

The cards are the same as for Royal Scam.

I looked again and Short Attention Scam isn’t listed. I can’t come up with thirteen cards based on the listed effects. I’m puzzled.

Nonetheless, other than blank faced cards, aces and jokers - I don’t think there is anything special about the 13 cards.

Someone else messaged me to say that besides the 5x Bullet Party cards you described earlier you also get the following:

3x red-backed Jokers, 1x blue-backed blank-face card, 4x blue-backed Jacks (four-of-a-kind)

So it sounds like it's the cards for Bullet Party and for Mega Wave, plus blue-backed four-of-a-kind Jacks from a different packet effect that is taught on the DVD.

Presumably one of the effects included on the DVDs requires a four-of-a-kind with Jacks:
- DVD 1: Bullet Party, Final Verdict, Box Jumper, Riverboat Poker, Poker Pairadox Redux, Fractal Re-Call (Revised), Crocodile False Cut
- DVD 2: Mega 'Wave, Fat City Revisited, Wicked, Bullet Catcher, Drop Target Aces, Four Shadow Aces, Big Fat Bluff Aces

Hmmmm. "Wicked" does use four queens and a indifferent card. You could use Jacks, but it would sort of ruin the recommended Wizard of Oz presentation with "Good" and "Bad" Witches (Queens) in the book. Nonetheless, you at least now know that none of the cards are that difficult go get. Enjoy the effects... Bannon's stuff is really good.
