Hey everybody!

First of all: Hi, im Lucas from germany and i began my card magic journey about 6 or 7 months ago. Its nice to meet all of you.

Before i explane the title of zhis thread i need to tell you, that im nearly blind. I can still see a little bit but im more on the richard turner side of magicians.... - the years of practice. Im verry interested in gambling stuff, which kinda brings me to my quastion.

Im trying to get some suggestions, hints and pointers to find a way to be able to do gambling demos and things where you have to rely on your eyes. Im scared of accidental exposure btw :D
Im learning mnemonica and im planning on creating a tactile system to mark cards. Are there any ideas you guys have ? Any books i should read or lectures i should watch ?

Any idea is welcome!

Thank you in advance!
Lucas

Hi! A great book to read is Expert at the Card Table. It is great for card cheats too. For marking the playing cards, you could use a pencil and dot the corners

Hey Lucas, sounds like a great endeavor! Not sure where you are at for a knowledge base, so I'm gonna throw a few things at you. First, eventually you will want to get into doing a punch deal. Here are a couple inexpensive recourses to get you going. The first link is a video and the second a PDF

Another great tool to have would be N-strippers. Jason England has a great video on this called Sub Rosa. This too will take some time to get the feel of it, but I think it's worth the effort.

Last but not least, I would also suggest brainstorming how to use corner shorts and crimps to achieve your goals.

Hope this helps,
Jacob

While browsing travel ideas about Hawaii snorkeling spots, I was also thinking about ways to improve my practice and explore new techniques. Are there any ideas you guys have? It’s awesome that you’re pursuing card magic and learning Mnemonica. I’d recommend focusing on tactile memory, consistent handling, and practicing with a dedicated deck to develop reliable touch-based techniques. Richard Turner’s work is definitely worth studying for inspiration. You could also explore memorized-deck routines and gambling demonstrations that rely more on memory and presentation than visual cues. Don’t be afraid to experiment and adapt techniques to suit your needs. With patience and practice, you can develop a style that works brilliantly for you!
