First off - no this is not a joke elementary school kids might tell (realized this too late) :p

Anyways, are there any methods to silently tear a card in half? I doubt it would be too much of a problem to rip a card in a loud place like a mall or some restaurants. However, I feel like it may cause an issue in a quieter scene, especially if the trick needs the spectator to think the card is 100%, and later finds out it was torn.

Rip it ahead of time and use repositional glue to put it back together. Rip away from the side you want signed so it is less apparent.

I thought of that too. But I was thinking more so for an impromptu effect. Not necessarily make it silent, but just softer so no one catches it over me speaking.

If you fold it back and forth very often, it can fall apart on its own. If not, it is still noticeably more quiet when ripping.
