No worries, i'm not hyping some effect with that title.

I am using that oh so catchy name for a routine I have been working on for my IBM Ring's Patriotic themed meeting tomorrow. I thought i'd share it with you all and then let you know how the performance goes.

The performer comes out and talks about how last weekend was July 4'th, one of his favorite holidays. He just loves so many different aspects of it, especially the fireworks. No, not just because he likes blowing stuff up, but because he finds it so patriotic. He then offers to demonstrate.
Someone is brought up and is given a lighter to hold and light. The performer states how in fire you can see the colors of our country. Blue, White... and if you burn yourself you can see red. But it even goes farther than that. A piece of paper is touched to the flame and a miniature american flag is produced out of the burst of fire that is produced.
The performer then states how, while fire is wonderful, there are flaws. A match is lit to demonstrate fireworks and the performer mentions how the fire is great while it lasts but eventually it goes out. The match is then blown out. While that may be okay for some people, this performer likes allot of fire so he then grabs the blown out match and begins to produce 30-40 matches out of his bare hands. The last few matches are thrown into the air and two giant matches are produced from them. The giant matches are then shown to have a small american flag stretched between them... see how patriotic fire can really be?

Any feedback is much appreciated. This routine has taken allot of work and I am quite nervous but excited to perform it tomorrow night. Only thing is, I HATE performing for magicians... specifically a room of 20+ magicians including STEVE BEAM... haha lets hope I can calm my nerves.

Thanks,

I like it a lot. It's very different than your average routine. :) However, yes... performing for magicians is more than obnoxious I'm sure. Just don't try to feel overwhelmed! Even if they figure out how you did everything... I'm sure they will be thinking how awesome it must be for a layman to see it. :) Don't be so hard on yourself and practice practice practice. You'll do fine! Good luck man.

Damnit, I can't unsee it.

With regards to the routine, that sounds awesome magical in the right places and a very patriotic finish. :) I'd love to see this captured and posted in the media section.

Thanks man! I tried filming it once but it reeaally didn't go well... haha

We have a stage show in september and I might apply to perform either in the show or out in the lobby before hand, I'd certainly film it then.

Thanks everyone, i'll let you know how it goes!
