have you ever wondered when you see a new effect, if its really good?

or just hype?

can it be used i the real world?

Will people belive it?

is it hard?

of course no trick inventor will say "my trick is very unpractical, even my five year old son can figure it out and by the way the angles are so horrible if your not in front of a camera it could not fool any one."

well I am going to put a end to that, I'm tired of buying tricks that turn out to be complete crap.

of course you could go to a awsome site like this and look at reviews but what do you really know after that? you may find somethings out to persuade you to buy the product. but don't you think visuals are always better?

well in most cases. (thinks nasty thoughts of old harry women =[)


Seeing i love going out and doing street magic, and entertaining the masses
I have decided to be helpful to the ones stuck in a product decision.

just reply to this thread with the trick your thinking a bout buying, i will not only buy it and learn it, but i will preform it for real people on the street and youtube it. so you can see what it really looks like for real people in lots of different situations.


Then i will review then

in three catagoires


Difficulty

Practical

comparing to other tircks a like.


I do not care a bout spending money.

I'm actually curious if this would work well in a street setting.

Its a good idea ya have, but you could end up spending a lot of money, fast

A samurai sword...in a street. If someone whips out a sword I'm booking out of there, it would be suited for a stage show though.

I agree that people do need to look at the hype. I get excited when I see an awesome trailer for a new effect. However, we need to look at the effect itself. We need to think "Will I actually use this effect in the real world or am I just buying this because of the hype?"

Unless its a full blown balloon sword

Just realized it comes with a gimmick that can be used on any blade or knife, so unless you're confident no one will run at the site of a small knife...use a plastic butter knife.

You can do it with any type of blade. Even a pen. They just send you the sword so you have something nice to use it with.

Wow, you know, that's not a bad idea.
I think magic companies should pick 1 person from their site to try out their product in real world. Get it video taped and to be put on their main page.

Now, I'm not going to ask you to spend the money to buy an effect for me to let me know if it's good or not. I wouldn't want you to waste your money for me.
But I do believe your on to something . . . .

Just a quick note, I performed this on stage at City Stage in Springfield last month, for a relatively small studio theater of 85 seats (all with butts in them).

I did it to music, and opened it with a true story of how I almost died last year in a motocross accident, but I walked away unscathed. After the stop, I talked about Viktor Frankl and his book Man's Search for Meaning, in which he says that death should be man's greatest motivator, not something we fear.

I brought up an early teens guy who reacted perfectly, and it went over very well. My girlfriend didn't know I was doing this routine, and she was pissed at me for making her so nervous during the show.
