Hello everyone,

My name is Clancy Conlin, I have been given the opportunity, by the school I am attending, to focus on a project on any subject of my choice, over the course of a year. The focus of others in the past have been varied, such as RPG's, fashion, or painting, I have chosen a subject that interests me more than any other, The Expert at the Card Table. Any time I am not practicing or doing homework, I have been writing about, what I consider, to be one of the most influential books ever written. I have arranged interviews about the book and Erdnase with some of todays leading experts and card mechanics (including Richard Turner the great and powerful) And I shall soon be launching an online survey. Why I am creating this post is for one reason, I have started working on a 3 minute trailer for a film following the life and death of the man named Erdnase, but I am stuck on two points. I am having bait of trouble considering what the actors should wear and what cards should be used. And the other, whom should it follow? I had planned on ES Andrews, as his life is the most interesting, not to mention detailed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and you shall be credited.

P.S. I have greatly gifted by the event of the upcoming holiday season, as I shall have much time to film and edit.

Thank you Qlancy

It is quite certain that Erdnase has used a Bee deck (See fig. 101 in "The Expert at the Card Table"). Unfortunately, the in 1902 popular Worm back design is no longer in print. But I think it would be no problem to use a standard Bee deck in your film. However, it is also worthwhile times to take a look at the card from Cunjuring Arts Research Center. In recent years, they have produced several really cool "Erdnase-Styled" decks. I'm sure you'll find something you like...

If you want to know what people have been wearing at the time, I would suggest you to search a little on the internet. But the clothes, especially wealthy people have worn at this time, looked something like this ...

I have recently become acquainted with These, which are a reprint of a deck that thrived around the turn of the century, and appears to be what were illustrated in The Expert at The Card Table. That fashion is quite dashing, I think I shall attempt to recreate something of that style.

Thank you

I was planning on only making a short trailer, then eventually making a longer film. I could post it in the forums! when I'm done, if you like and if nobody objects.
