Review: Wynns don't win

Honestly,
These are a very mediocre deck of cards. The faces aren't good for fanning, but the backs are "ok". The finish isn't very good, same goes for the "air-flow". They fan much like the first generation of guardians. Also, they won't faro shuffle to save my life. They are a rather stiff stock... if you like that, but honestly they don't "handle like a dream" or "fan like butter". There is a bunch of "hype" to these cards, and they just don't live up to it. I also got some Shadow Masters... and they actually DO live up to the hype, even for a black deck (I never was a big fan because the amount of ink that was needed). For 4.95 a deck they are cool just to have an uncanceled casino deck, but whoever said "they are the next Jerry nuggets" is a liar!

6/10 at best.

Wouldn't hurt to get a pack just so you know... 4.95 isn't bad. But the hype was just that... all hype.

The faroing capability of these cards is a little off, though not the worst ive seen. As for the fans, they actually fan better after being broken in a little, than right out of the box, which is a bit quirky. Personally i simply like the back design, and I think that if your flourishing skills are up to par, you can still flourish with a crappy deck, fans not included. Some decks really just don't fan.

Play with them for a while, and see if your opinion changes. After 3 hours of handling them yesterday, they handle flawlessly for me today.

Mine has handled a lot better since I broke it in, which didn't take long. I personally love the cards but Shadow Masters do fan better than any deck I know of. It's crazy. But anyway, both decks are great if you ask me and I probably like them equally. I thought that both lived up to the hype pretty well.

I think that people seem to think that just because they have a certain deck of cards it is going to make them somehow amazingly better, which of course it isn't. Maybe your fanning technique isn't right? I don't know, I'm not saying it is or isn't as I don't know you. What I do know is I have these and they fan great for me and did right out of the box.

As far as the hype, well hype is hype. I don't know what you expected. They are playing cards. They aren't going to make you a better magician.

I for one really enjoy the back design and the way they handle.

I agree with what your saying... and no its not my fanning tech, I know how to fan a deck. I said "they fan like 1st edition guardians (and they do), not that I couldn't fan them. And of course no deck of cards will make a bad magician good... but a good deck of cards can make a great magician better :)

Like I said, for the price its worth a go... but for the amount of hype that has been on the forums and stirred by the artists of T11, I would say people have gone WAY over board. In fact, just something for people to chew on... every artist who has been hyping them up has compared them to jerry's or amazing for flourishing, but may I remind you... not ONCE have we heard anything from Dan or Dave about this deck, perhaps they might not feel the same way... Its easy to jump to conclusions tho.

Personally I enjoy the cards quite a bit. They handled great after I got them out of the sub-zero ice box known as my mailbox when I got home last night. Let them sit for an hour or so and then proceeded to break them in.

Yes they don't faro well and I am not sure if it will change after handling the cards more but faro is not something I really care much about aside from keeping my hands busy from time to time. I never do it as part of a routine.

Fans: Face fans are blegh at best because of the large index but the back fans are just fine. Again I am not a flourishing fanatic so it bothers me less than I am sure most.

My main concern was doubles and triples and breaks to see if it felt like turning over concrete slabs when doing doubles. They feel just as thick as the Split Spades I normally use, which to me was great.

I like the way they look both front and back. The jumbo index is growing on me like a fungus.

All in all they are a deck that I will probably use quite a bit in the future for nearly anything and everything. They will probably share time with the Split Spades and TH9's but that might change eventually. In the end it just comes down to feel and personal preference. What I like may not be what someone else likes or is looking for in a deck which is fine because there are tons of deck styles out there to choose from. Grab more if you like em and if you didn't like em I am sure you can get your money back and then some for the decks eventually.

As far as Jerry's well I don't own any yet. My undercover agents are working on the blueprints for the Kenner Cave and Ashers Vault to launch an attack and plunder me some booty. Until that time I can't honestly make a legit comparison so I will have to go with those in the know.

Cheers,

Jim

I ordered these because they look sweet. They win by looks.
I haven't received them yet but remember, these are just Bee's with a different design.

They honestly do look great, the back design is "elegant". Also. after breaking them in, they do start to work better... although they will not faro worth are darn :)

I said this in my first post, and ill repeat it... I don't hate the cards. In fact, for the price I think everyone should grab a pack. Its a cheap price to have a new uncanceled deck from Wynn's... like a little part of Vegas history.

what is up with the word butter? holy crap ever since brad said "these fan like butter" on the Tally-HO Viper preview, everyone seems to be saying it now to describe how well a deck fans. i mean maybe its just a nice way to say how well a deck fans but it is starting to prove to be slightly annoying even though their reference to butter is not related to food (i love butter by the way). :D

Pfft it's because all you do is get E cards you numbnut.
You're so spoiled about the fanning the first time you open it. No sh*t the fanning doesn't look good with Jumbo Index... it might not fan as good or anything but hey look at Jerry's. They suck at fanning yet they are the most wanted deck in the world.

You probably didn't even break them in. More negative feedbacks on these cards more interesting it is to open them myself(gotta wait till next week...)

Wow, that couldn't have been more rude or unwarranted. And no, all I buy is NOT just E decks... I work for a brick and mortar, why would I do that? Don't be a jerk bro, its not a good look.

i would take Dana up on this. I have talked to both Dana and Wayne and they are both great people, as are Lee and Aaron. I would certainly talk to them to see what is up and what can be done to resolve these types of conflicts. If nothing else, it would be could to talk to this awesome guys.

That's nice, but some cards have to be broken in to fan and handle well. For example, Jerry's and Wynns.

I'm afraid that you failed to make a point here. Some cards need to be broken and and some do not, but this does not indicate anything of the quality of the cards.
