Throwing Cards

So I, like many others out there, love throwing cards. I geek out at the shear fact that I can go full Gambit with stuff I already carry around in my pocket. This last year in school, we started to just throw cards around in study hall, and actually made a couple games out of it.

Anyways I have 2 questions for you guys:
What do you like about throwing cards?
and
How do you practice personally?

I practise by sticking styrofoam plates onto a piece of cardboard, and then I place it in front of a yoga mat so that in case I miss my target, the cards just bounce off the mat and it won't be damaged as fast.

Way too expensive and unneeded in my book. A Pillow, duct tape, and cardboard would accomplish the same effect.
