    Help with my CAAN

I use a tilt or bluff pass often enough. I'll usually count as I spread to have a card selected

    What is your reputation maker?

I have an original routine with a poker chip that gets the strongest reaction of anything I do. I have a series of mental feats I can do, that I get asked to do at parties. A few anagrams and math things.

Most famous person you have performed for

I have performed for a handful of senators groom around the USA. One texted a picture of me to David Copperfield, that was cool. I have performed for past contestants on American Idol and a few others. I've met a few famous people but I only perform if I'm asked to, I rarely initiate it.

    Your card trick Readers Digest

If you want a quick description of a bunch of tricks check out the Encyclopedia of Card Magic by Hugard and Braue. This is very much like a Readers Digest.

What tricks make your audience say "do that again!"?

Yep, I do coin to shoulder twice. I do it once and wait for them to ask to see it again, and I do it works great. Some of my rubber band work gets a do it again, but for most of it I can do it again and continue with the routine or do it again and it's just as powerful.

    What is the best ACAAN?

My all time favorite is Hands off by Patrick Redford. It's fairly easy to do and really gets close to the Berglas effect in my opinion.

Angle sensitivity with sleights - Other peoples experiences!

I ran into the trap of trying to do very difficult stuff to start out with and came to pay for it when I actually performed for people. The list of moves you shared are tough, doable but tough. Keep working on them but if they aren't flying in performance maybe try a simpler set of controls. 2...

Border or Borderless for Double lifting?

I kinda disagree, but I get what you are saying. You can get to a point where any deck will work for what you need but I am always careful about what deck I use for what. For 3 card monte, I always use borderless. For false deals I prefer borderless. If I'm doing a double lift or reversing a...

How can I make an amazing video?

Rick Lax gave me 2 tips for good magic videos. Make sure you can be seen and make sure you can be heard. That will help immensely. The contra-posative also helps. Make sure you are not seeing too much or hearing too much. Basically if you can accomplish those two things the magic will speak for...

What's a trick you hate doing but your audience loves?

I feel guilty when performing the Haunted Key. My presentation kinda stinks, and I like the trick okay I just don't love it. It gets a great reaction though. I also kind of wish I had a better key for the effect. I also do the invisible deck often, which feels like a cop out to me. I still...

What are some of the most impressive magic tricks you can learn?

RealityOne and Christopher echo my thoughts. When you are learning an effect imagine what the ideal version of that effect is. Practice it until you can get close to that ideal version of the effect. Then perform it until everyone watching experiences that version of the effect. Almost any...

Are all dover magic books useful for beginners?

Meh, Vernon and Marlo got the book at a young age and they revolutionized card magic. It was one of the first books I ever bought and I can't say I'm worse off for having it. If you want beginner magic look at the Encylcopedia of Card Magic, or the Royal Road, the Expert at the Card Table is...

If You Could Only Have 1 Magic Book, What Would it Be?

I agree with the Mark Wilson book. To provide variety though Joshua Jay's Magic: The Complete Course is also really good. It's shorter but comes with a DVD.

Effects/Tricks you wish would just go away

There's a lot of magic I wish everyone else would stop doing so that I can keep it for myself. I love all the cliche tricks of the week and the classics but I don't do them. Things like: French Kiss, Double Cross, Sponge Balls, Professor's Nightmare, Spoon Bending, Cups and Balls, Bowlarama...

    David Blaine Psychological Card Forces?

So, I've been thinking about this trick. I may have 2 alternative methods that can work with a freely named card. No dual reality, no forces. PM me if you want details. These are fairly involved compared to the method Asi teaches.

    David Blaine Psychological Card Forces?

So, I used to create magic for Rick Lax. We tried a lot of psychological forces on his Facebook videos. If it was really great we'd get 20% hits out of a million views. It's my opinion that for the most part they are unreliable. There are exceptions out there but there are a few magicians out...

    Concerning Sleight of Hand

I think you could learn a lot from Greg Wilson's Off the Cuff and on the Spot dvds. These videos give you loads of material that you can do with just about anything in a casual environment. Rocco is the king of sleeving in my opinion, it's a very versatile technique. I prefer to diversify...
