Depends on your character/presentational style. My current one is 5 phases, but I've seen ones with as little as 3 phases work, Tony Chang's being an excellent example. As for ACRs having too many phases, Kammagic's is iconic in showing that having a long ACR works incredibly well also.

This idea is mentioned in Nicholas Einhorns "Practical Encyclopedia of Magic", in which he really expands on it. Not sure about any other sources for it.

I'm sure it's in some book. There's some nice variations of a lot of techniques known by laymen in books.

I'm still confused as to what the concrete definitions of "Cardistry", "Flourishing" and "XCM" are. Can someone explain?

I don't own Window, so I don't say this with any authority, but I highly doubt a magician like Jean Pierre Valerino would put out an effect with the exact same mechanics as another magician.

One of the biggest differences between the two is that the Push Through shuffle requires you to cut the after the shuffle, but the Zarrow shuffle does not. Might not be too big of a difference to you, but still.
