Is it possible to be proficient with both card and hypnotism?

I'm sorry I didn't get to this post sooner but I'd be glad to help with your questions. First off, to answer the main question, yes you can be proficient in both cards or slights of hand and hypnotism. However, the two acts don't mesh with each other so you would end up having two very...

Where would you be without magic?

Where would I be without magic? 1) Have a girl friend 2) Own a home 3) Have a stable job 4) Have a college degree 5) Have friends who don't run every time I get within 15 feet of a deck of cards 6) Couldn't think of a six 7) Have Friends period 8) Can afford to feed myself and a family...

That will be quite enough from the both of you. Please and Thank you.

    What do you think?

Steerpike: I'm not going to argue with you over such a minor point. Your not worth my time. Next topic? I think this thread has been derailed enough.

    What do you think?

Not exactly. Everything I've ever said about you has been in direct result of your own words. I've called you aloof, arogant, I've said you appear to talk down to people, and possible are egocentric. Over all from your posts, You do appear to be that way at times. You have no problems...

    What do you think?

That would require putting more time and thought into a problem that I don't really care to solve. I don't think I'd have the patience for it. After all I'm a "poor sap" and "not well read" apparently. (Name calling Morgician? Reall?)

Magicians to see in Las Vegas?

I highly recomend seeing P&T. Of course Burton and Copperfield are amazing acts. If you get a free afternoon Mac King or Amazing Johnathan. Now for shows that aren't magic: See Phantom of the Opera if at all possible. Also Avenu Q is pretty funny. Best of luck to you.

    What do you think?

I see. I make four or five posts contributing opinions and what not and thats the only thing you can focus on. Shame really I can't share the same opinion. While I agree that props need to fit the peresona or act. I get that. For the most part I agree with you. However, what I think you...

Can a trick have too many booms?

I certainly think it is possible. I'm going to quote a book called Maximum Entertainment by Ken Webber. "Laypeople want direct plots. Anything else is magical masturbation, done because it makes you feel good, and no one else." I think the plot of any effect should be boiled down and...

    What do you think?

First let me say that I don't FULLY understand all aspects that go into the yogi style of presentation. So much at least that would be needed to make the character sound believable. That would require a lot of reading and homework, study etc, and I'm afraid that by the time I'd get back to...

    What do you think?

The key words in that last post was "just about..." I don't have a suitable answer at this time. I'll have to think about it for a second.

    What do you think?

I am curious if you are calling me a poor sap or not well read? I think Mark certainly has had a huge impact on the magic world. I spoke to him last weekend in vegas. Though not about Blaine. It's hard to say where Blaine came up with his half stoned street "normal guy" persona. I will say...

    What do you think?

This isn't a sponge ball rutine, but during Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios I've used three plastic skulls and "brians" carved from sponge material and painted. (Cups and Balls) You could use Sponge Ghosts for sponge ball rutine. Not that I've tried that one, just thinking on...

    What do you think?

My point was about conformity, and avoiding a "cookie cutter" image when performing. California sucking or not is purely opinionated. I personally love it compaired to the corn field of a town in the midwest that I grew up in. David Blaine does have a good performance character. I'm...

    What do you think?

One: I don't really understand what it is you are trying to say here. The onlything that I can take from how you word things is that you don't approve of or like this style of performance. Pitty. Two: Playing cards are not the be-all end-all of magic. Contrary to popular belief among the...

What is magic? The threshold between trickery and artistry.

I personally would like to advocate getting this subject back on topic here instead of watching it go down into a spiral of bickering between two or three people.

    I need your help!

Please don't insult the art by giving a half assesd performance. All shows should have an introduction even if it's "hi I'm so and so and I'm a magician". I recomend axtel boards, ghost house (mark Wilson), tossed out deck, stan Kate and edith, a book test or a straitjacket escape.
