    Laymen Perspective: Are Magicians Cool?

Here is an interesting podcast by Rhett & Link on magicians. They discuss their experiences and an article. Agree or disagree, I think it's an authentic view into the minds of two laymen. There was an interesting line about magicians not being authentic that I'm pondering.

Does it make a difference to the spectators?

Hmm. Yes and no. It really depends. But I would lean to yes. I was talking with Jason England when he was in town, and he pointed out that if you are doing the ambitious card and you use a pass that is unnoticed by the participant vs a double undercut, though the effect is the same (card...

    Good save...

I think my personal favorite victory was a recovery after doing a color change to what I thought was the card. It wasn't. This was for the CEO of a very large oil company that hired me, so I really wanted it to go well, and here I had messed it up! I was surprised and asked what card they had...

    New York Magic Shows

Chamber Magic was very classic style, and the one I saw when I went. It was excellent. If I was to go now, I would be very very torn between Derek DelGuadio, Derren Brown (if he's still there), and Dan White's. Cost may be a factor, and some tickets are harder to get (like Dan's at the Nomad)...

People don't like the cross cut force?

Is it more deceptive when you have them cut but you place the packets crossed, or if you take the time to explain it to them to place the bottom half on top? (does that make sense )

People don't like the cross cut force?

Hmm. I have not liked it for a long time. I had a few observant people catch me on it and just have always done more reliable forces since then. But reading your post is making me consider: I wonder if I was caught simply because I was less experienced with the time delay and distraction...

Saturday Night Contest - On Target!

So I've learned that having the bin on it's side is easier, so I tried to do that, and from a further distance to get more accurate shots. And I also realized that I'm terrible at this. So. Very. Bad.

Saturday Night Contest - On Target!

Oh my word. I was like "how hard can it be?" So I did from 12 feet and the most I got was 4 - after probably close to 2000 throws. It was maddening. Most of the time I got nothing in. Oy vey.

Saturday Night Contest - On Target!

Haha I suppose there are some important clarifications that are important. I'm sure throwing boxed decks into a dumpster doesn't count! Lol

What's a trick you hate doing but your audience loves?

Sponge balls and ambitious card. I enjoy them because I like my presentation, however I think I'm just getting bored from doing them more than anything. But they slay.

What are some of the most impressive magic tricks you can learn?

I remember as a hobbyist, the first thing i did that was a real reputation maker was Healed and Sealed. I used to do that wherever I could. Just a quick bathroom break and could set it up.
