Now here's a good question! (Magician Origin Stories)

Thanks for sharing! I've always picked up tricks as a kid and in university I attended a university staff party and there was a deck sitting on the table. I started showing people some of the tricks I had accumulated and was so surprised how much they enjoyed them. They talked about them for...

Have you guys seen Chris Ramsay's new series of videos?

That's actually very close to how I respond. I usually say something like, "No, but keep talking like that and she might make YOU disappear!" Then I laugh which makes it passive-aggressive and that usually gets a good laugh from the table.

    Broke Aspiring Magicians

This is a great question. It’s great because I think many people ask it for all different reasons! These are my general thoughts on the topic. With regards to this question, the most important answer is ‘work’. This is important for a number of reasons, but mostly because it is important to...

What are the names of different magic tricks?

If you are interested in learning about magic in general, I would suggest hitting up a public library and reading some books on it. There are lots of great books, and many even contain some secrets too ;)

Can We Address The Real Issues?

Over the past couple of years I've been developing my show to be about choices. All the effects are about choosing in some way and the results of those choices. My goal is to then develop a talk that can be given (to a corporate audience) about how to make strong choices at work and at home...

Is this a good set for walkaround?

With regards to sponge balls, I only work adult and corporate shows, and when I do sponge balls I get some of the loudest reactions. Last year I had one lady who as soon as she opened her hands and saw two balls instead of one, she screamed, launch out of her chair and shove me with both hands...

    Top Ten Close up illusions

My lifetime favorite card trick is Jokers Wild. My favorite non card trick is Stigmata. My favorite coin trick is a silly version of the heads and tails vanish in Bobo's. My favorite book test is Word in a Million. I have a lot of fun performing sponge balls, so that's why I do that. Currently...

is the monarch deck worth the price ?

If you are wondering if the monarchs will help you be a better card mechanic – not really. How the difference affects your handling is going to be negligible. However they do handle very nice out of the box, seem to hold up longer, and look fantastic. They are a novelty deck and worth it if you...

    red monarchs

My favorite monarchs are the gold and the red ones. The Green has by far the nicest box.

What's the name of this trick?

If it's what I'm thinking, the method is quite old. I read it in a kids magic book from the library ages ago. A similar idea to the newspaper strip prediction. There is one printed idea in Karl Fulves book Self-Working Mental Magic (1979). He calls it the Want Ad Test. (p. 53)
