    A Magician's Journal - July 9 - "Waiting"

Bravo! Nicely done. Out of curiosity, in your set, how do you set it up for tips? Do you do money effects, or just ask for tips? Thanks for sharing

    WOW - Can't Believe it

Well, you need to know that being a magician is not easy because it is show-business. There are two parts to that - performance and business. If you can`t do both, you won't make it. So for business, some education in this area will go a long ways. It takes an entrepreneur to be able to be...

    A Magician`s Journal-July 14- "Capitan George" w/Photos

Rick is right. When I was working in the restaurant, the spin off jobs were where the money was. Yet the restaurant was a great place to work with an audience, and try new material.

    Fantastic Mentalism Advice

I very much agree. In my degree, I majored in theatre, and it is unbelievable what a difference it makes. I use some of those skill in nearly every single interaction I have, in and out of magic. I recently read Steve Cohen's book, "How to Win a Crowd", and it has lots of great tips on...

Some questions about the Invisible deck ...

It totally depends on how much you use it. I find with a moderate level of use, I can get a year to two years out of a invis. deck before it get's sloppy. For me it's worth it to just pick up a new deck when the time comes.

    Fantastic Mentalism Advice

If you haven't already listened to Paul Draper's EMC video, it is a must watch. It is filled with so much great advice. One of the many things he said that I thought was very insightful was to "Stay away from just the pure study of mentalism, because the pure study of mentalism is not the...

    Prediction Player Card to Shirt

I have to say I'm with DannyT on this one. Although not the dorkiest shirt, It perhaps lacks a bit of 'cool' factor (aside from being BLACK, like magic). I have to say the concept is great. The price tag baffles me. At that price it's not worth the trial even.

    Spots in New York

We were just there, and we picked up tickets for Steve Cohen's Chamber Magic show. Easily a must. A fantastic show. Actually, the word fantastic doesn't capture it at all. It sells out, so if you can still get tickets, then absolutely do it. (Not to mention the hotel where it is at is amazing.) j

    Approachment

You could try using a table with a sign as a 'home base'. People walk by and see the sign, know what is going on, and a) they keep walking because they are not interested or don't have the time b) stop or show interest via eye contact, or c) they already know what is going on when you approach...
