I can see your logic, but surely buy doing any card trick you are in a way cheating the audience? False shuffles, false cuts, false riffles, sleight of hand, bottom deals, centre deals all of these are ways of cheating the audience into thinking you can actually perform magic. Granted that...

I agree with SKSleighofHand, he has given you some sound advice here. I would also say, find a couple of tricks (no more than 3) and practice them in front of a mirror and/or with a video camera until you can perform them behind your back in your sleep. That way you'll make even a simple trick...
