What trick do you use the most?

In my opinion, having a simple trick allows you to focus on the audience and the presentation/patter. Hence why I love Biddle. I'll have to relook at DVR. Been awhile since I saw it.

What trick do you use the most?

It's my go to trick. I've had my family asked me to do a trick for them, and I'll bust out Biddle. Most of the time, they respond with "But how the heck did my card get there? I just saw it in your hands!" I've my students (I teach high school math) come back a year later and ask me how I...

What trick do you use the most?

Biddle Trick. It honestly kills every time I do it.

    Never doing magic again.

As said above, we've all been there. My suggestion would be to go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong. Practice a bunch. Then try some stuff out for your parents or close friends. One on one. Hopefully by then, you'll gain enough confidence to feel comfortable...

    Learning The Muscle Pass

It takes months to look good I think. I've never had a spectacular one because I stopped practicing it. But after a couple months, you can make it look pretty good. There are some DVD's out there as well if you are interested. I believe David Kong has one....

The first trick you ever learned?

I learned Key Card, then used that principle for Do As I Do.

my take of the famous sandwich effect

There were some unnecessary movements in there, flipping the deck around, etc. Also, I would have the jokers ready to go at the beginning. The spectator might think you are up to something if you have the deck facing you as you go through to find them. I sometimes like for my spectators to...

The Wire is a Great Launching Block :)

Not sure I loved the patter, but definitely loved the effect. Well done.

    SWE Shift: Dead Subject?

I'd be intrigued to see your applications. But honestly, yes, I think the move is somewhat pointless. It looks unnecessary and strange to me, and it might make a spectator think you are doing a move, which, in fact, you are. It might be that I hear the move is super hard and to me, it doesn't...

    Magic in Language

It's ironic to think that most of us speak English (could be any language obviously) and barely communicate it through proper patter for an effect without explaining exactly what we are doing. As for other languages, my sister is fluent in Spanish and always tells me you can't translate...

    Slightly different variation

That's what I figured, but was saying what it looked like. I just think you need to keep rehearsing it over and over and it'll be good. As Tyler said, you seem good to go to perform for other people, but there is always room for improvement. Let us know if you perform it for someone.

    Slightly different variation

It honestly looked as if you were nervous. You're hands didn't looked relaxed at all. So I would suggest making sure you have no tension in the hands. Keep working!

    Best eBooks on the market?

I've heard nothing but good things from FASDIU: http://www.fasdiu.com/fasdiu.html I don't own it, but so many people at the Cafe highly recommend it. It's at the top of my list.

    Honest Opinions?

I was impressed watching. I don't do much cardistry at all, but I definitely enjoyed your stuff.

    To beginner magicians.

And I say that from experience. Nowadays, I'm waiting months before I go out and try it on someone. I'm still not completely comfortable attempting the pass and I've been working on it for five years. Could I get away with it? Probably. But I'm not willing to risk it just yet. Soon I hope!

    To beginner magicians.

Here's my suggestion: once you put up 1 video, and 1 only, read the constructive criticisms and then go practice that for a month. Then go back to your thread and repost a newer video showing your improvement. Work on the new comments you get. Then go out and practice for real people, maybe...

The Melt and Reverse Illusion by 97mrdude

Your responses to the comments tell me you aren't taking it too seriously. Maybe you are. If so, great. You posted the video, which means you got to take the criticism or not post a video. Simple as that.

The Melt and Reverse Illusion by 97mrdude

Taking criticism is tough, since a good chunk of Youtube comments make kids feel like they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then they come here expecting the same thing, only to get hit with people try to help. They aren't used to negative feedback and can't handle. I'm sure most of...

    The Pass

I've been working on the pass for 5 or so years and it still isn't great. Every few months I'll find something that helps it every so slightly. And I keep referring back to Jason England's download which is awesome. I highly suggest you get it.
