rubber band

Anyone know the name of this trick where one band gets "shot" onto the other band and they link together? Thank you! (Illusion: blue band is shot (vanishes) and links onto the yellow band)

So, I've come up with a trick where I take an elastic band and stretch it from both ends with my finger then slowly let go of the band from one side and it stays in position. Has this been done before?
