My name is Zaria, I used to be active in the magic scene pre lockdown but ever since good ol' lockdown I've been stuck in a rut. Been stuck in a job I don't like and I've gained recent enthusiasm to try and build my own show and go to venues and see if i can get a space to perform. But I am wanting to know what would be some of your good recommendations for stage worthy tricks. I have little to no budget so if it can work around that, that'll be swell! I am not new to performing or to magic, just been out of the game for a bit but now I am ready to dive back in! Deep End Incoming!

Thanks to everyone who contributes!

This is a difficult question to answer because we don't know anything about you... what your style is, what magic you enjoy performing, what your skill level is and what magic you already know.

My suggestion is to develop performance pieces that involve everyday objects. I have a performance piece that uses a deck of cards, an empty gin bottle and some paper bags. Another uses apples, oranges, a glass container and two bushel baskets. Another uses two envelopes, a handkerchief and two borrowed dollar bills. Take classic principles and use regular objects.

I also love classic magic like the egg bag, linking rings, cups & balls and billiard balls. Use them in a modern performance and you get great reactions. My performances are geared toward parlor magic, but much of that is transferable to stage.

Tell us more about you and what magic you already have (effects, books, downloads, etc.) and what magic you like to perform and what is your style. We can draw on that to make suggestions.

OMG sorry, yes I should of been more clear, my main interest is mentalism and close up magic but I have been wanting to expand into more stage based magic. I cant do grand illusions yet (budget) but I would love have more of a stage presence rather than street presence. I get mentalism is already good for stage but I would love if there was a way to do grand illusion type stuff on a budget

Just about the time I have spent on one move Up The Ladder.... Two words "Be Consistent"

This is a rough sketch of where I am at on the move.

If you like a certain kind of magic do that. Don't do what others tell you to do.. A lot and I mean a lot of people tell me to slow down.
