In a Spectator’s Eyes:
A spectator selects a card as the magician riffles down the side of the deck. Let’s say the selected card is the Five of Diamonds. The card is lost in the pack. A Joker with a hole in it is introduced. The Joker is said to be a “card locator.” The Joker is inserted inside the pack of cards, but is left sticking half way out. With a magic move, the Joker is pulled out of the pack and it’s revealed that the Joker no longer has a hole in it! The magician spreads through the cards face up until he reaches the selection. He pulls out the selection and now has a hole in it! The magician holds the Joker and the holey selection together and shakes them. The Joker now has the hole and the selection is restored! Both cards can then be handed out for complete examination.
What’s in the Box?
When you purchase this effect, you get a “zipped” file. You will need a program to unzip it. When you do, you will have one e-book and two Quicktime videos. The e-book has amazing cover art and 14 clear photos. It is nine pages long. The two video files are the demo and the explanation. The explanation assumes you already read the e-book and made the gimmick. It teaches you the sleights and routine. The videos are good quality and easy to watch. The teaching in the e-book and the video is very good. You will have no problem learning this routine.
Difficulty:
How hard is this? Not hard at all. It requires basic sleight of hand knowledge and should be accessible to an intermediate card handler. I do not think anyone will have trouble with this as long as they put in the practice it deserves.
The Gimmick:
The gimmick is simple and easy to make. It will require a trip to a local crafts store, unless you have both needed materials. I had one of the needed materials, but the other can be found easily online or at a retail store near you. Once you have the supplies, it won’t take too much time to make the gimmick. It shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes. It’s a very clever, original gimmick.
The Routine:
This is very nice. Unlike most other moving hole effects, the gimmick in the one is not too complicated but still gives the same effect in the end. The Joker never leaves the view of the spectators so the vanish of the hole is impossible. Also, the clearly see their selection has no hole when the pick it, so during the routine when it does have a hole it’s more impressive. The selection cannot be signed, but I do not think it’s needed in this routine.
Final Thoughts:
I really liked this effect, and if you like it you should definitely check it out. It’s a great routine and I highly recommend it. Another winner from Cameron Francis! It’s easy to do, has a fast reset, and is made for a performer. I rate this a 9/10!

Moving hole effects effects have captured the imagination of magicians for years. Cameron Francis presents one of the most practical, real world versions of the moving hole plot you're ever likely to see!
Effect:
A card is selected and lost in the deck. We'll say it's the Five of Diamonds. A Joker with a one inch hole cut in it is introduced. The magician says, “This Joker is a card locator. I'll show you how it works.” The magician places the Joker into the middle of the deck and leaves it out-jogged. He gives it a snap and pulls the Joker out. The hole is gone! When he spreads through the pack, one card is now seen to have a hole in it. That's right, it's the Five of Diamonds!
The Joker and the Five are placed one on top of the other and given a shake. The hole visibly melts back onto the Joker! The Joker and the Five may now be handed out for complete examination!
*Can be done on a table or completely in the hands!
*Resets quickly and easily right in front of your spectators!
*Easy to make gimmick!
When you purchase Aperture, you will receive a zipped file which contains a 9 page PDF with 14 color photos and two Quicktime videos featuring a demo and explanation of the effect.
