Books?

Time and time again I see that magic books are a great resource to learn and gather ideas for magic.

Where do I start? I feel like there are a lot of great books out there on magic that I haven't read, but how do I know where to find them? Or which ones to read? Card magic, coin magic, close-up effects, stage magic, visual magic, etc.

Well, first off. Where is your interest? Cards? Coins? Mentalist? Prop magic?

Who do you want no perform for? Adults? Children?

Finally, WHERE do you want to perform?

I feel that this can narrow down the overwhelming options of magic literature.

The real question is what type of magic do you like? What effects do you perform? What do you like to watch. There are thousands of magic books out there, each appealing for different reasons.

Your question is like asking "hey, I want to see a movie, what movie should I watch?" Questions like that simply get the name of a book tha the person likes -- or worse yet, a list of books that they have seen other recommend.

Books that include ideas about the actual presentation of magic, principles that are involved (such as misdirection), and also about close-up, visual, card, coin, and stage magic.

It's well and good that you're interested in the many facets of magic. My only fear is that if we cater to your current request, you'll be drowned in required reading material.

Start small.
