Business License Help

My performances and gigs are expanding every month and I've been running into many clients, my university for example, who only hire performers/entertainers with some kind of basic license. Any help as to where I can obtain this and further info?

That is interesting. I have never been told that. I just send them my contract in the mail or via email, they sign it, send the deposit back, and no questions are asked. I show up, do the show, send a thank you card, etc. End of story.

Maybe some others on here have experience with this.

You are asking the wrong bunch of people. You'll need to speak with the people at City Hall or something because I THINK they are the ones that issue out these kinds of licenses.

If you are performing in public areas, some cities require you to have a busking licence. However, if you are performing in privately owned companies, venues, you just mention that you are a freelance entertainer (as many musicians who play live houses are). You can mention that you file your taxes appropriately every year, but that your services do not require a business licence. You can further inform them that you require a gig contract to be signed, and in return you will issue a valid receipt for magic services rendered.

I agree with Randy; that's what I did to get a business license/busking license. Maderamagician, If City Hall doesn't serve the licenses, just ask them where you can get them and they will give you the address of where to go. These licenses cost me around 60 bucks just to get it (it will vary in different cities because our mayor is, well, let's not get into that). However, good luck to you on getting your license, you will indeed put it to great use!

I busked a street here on this market and in about an hour i got around 60-70 bucks. It's great to do this if you want quick cash!
