The EP value has gone down in the archive, autographed stuff is more expensive, rare decks are crazy expensive, and even common stuff (wristband, rarebits, monarchs) are priced high. The old items aren't a good gauge for future prices, really it only enforces the save till you have a lot of points mindset.
Wristbands are priced high? A few days spinning the holiday wheel and you have more than enough points earned for a completely free wristband. Merchandise that costs many times the cost of a wristband to make sure ought to cost many times more than a wristband in BONUS reward points. And, obviously, rare or autographed merch should be more expensive than standard merch.
Remember - Elite Points are bonuses. If you do cool things with theory11, you get some cool freebies. They are all FREE. Yes, they have a value, but that value is points, which rewards and are free.
Why do we leave the items in the Archive?
Probably for newer members to get an idea of the kinds of things that can be bought with Elite points in the future, to help them get an idea of the value of the points and to decide if they want to save up or use them right away.
Martin is exactly right. Posterity's sake. What shows up in the Archive? Come see! No, the point values are not a perfect indicator of what is going to be available in the future, but they can give you an idea.
I have all sorts of things sitting on my desk for the Archive that we have been waiting to post until after the new site launch. Some have no earlier equivalent, some do. All are awesome! All I can say is that if you have a stash of Elite Points that you are sitting on, keep your eyes peeled. There won't be a big announcement, just watch out for some new stuff!
