I've looked EVERYWHERE around here and can't find a pack in any store. (severe lack of magic/novelty shops in south TX)
I've read online that tally ho cards are of higher quality than standard bicycles.
I certinly like the look much better (circle backs).

but, when I read "higher quality" I wonder what the feel is like?

Are they stiff and slippery like those "casino quality" packs you find at walmart, or is the feel more like standard bicycles, but in some unidentifiable way superior? or are all of these claims just people plugging for empty biast reasons?

while I'm asking this, are the split spades stiff and slick?

In my opinion, Tally Hos last longer than Bikes. I don't know why, but they just do. They feel a little bit stiffer too... again, I don't know why because they look basically the same thickness. Just order a pack or two off the 'net and see for yourself. It's all based on preference.

If you are new to magic. Tally ho's will feel close to the same as bikes.

Tally's however have:
-Stiffer stock (a better snap), which is important for springs or dribbles
-A finish that lasts longer. I get even fans for longer when I use tally's.
-Lasts on average 2x longer than bicycles IMO

Definitely give tally' ho cards a try. Best place you can buy is off eBay. Fullboatdealer sells tally's on eBay for 22.50 for a brick of 12.

Split Spades:
-Initially has rough edges, but that isn't a problem
-Relatively soft stock, not as stiff, so pressure fan and such are easier to do fresh out of box.
-The finish IMO, is slightly different to Tally Ho's. (slighter better)
-However is much more expensive.

Really up to you which one you decide to buy. If money isn't an issue, buy Split Spades. If you want value for money, buy Tally's.

i have a problem with my tally ho. I had my first tally ho but the fanning and the finish didn't last that long. they kind of stick to each other. I used talcum powder twice already but nothing really happened.

PS. i can't get fanning powder and this is my only tally ho. I'm not sure if i'll buy another one because it costs like 10 bucks here.

i was all about bikes before especially custom ones but i chose to try tally's to see the big difference... and boy let me tell you that they are great... great for practicing flourishes and tricks.. my first tally lasted the out 2 bike packs so now i mainly use the tally's as a way of practicing my flourishes and i bring em with me here and there more often then my bikes.. :p

In my opinion i think tally ho's are much better than regular bikes. One deck of tallyz will last me around 2 decks of bikes. Also tally's have a different feel 2 them which i prefer - whether im performing magic or flourishing..

I order split spades recently and love them. There finish is very different and a lot more stiff. They seem to last ages too.. I can use them for hours in a day, put them back in the box and by the next day they will always feel like ive opened them for the first time.. They are my favourite cards at the moment and ive tried bikes, tallys, ghosts, vipers, aladdins, wynns and arrcos.

I managed to order a deck of Jerry's from Lee Asher - my 1st deck.. Eager to see how they compare to split spades..
