Absolutely agree with Gabriel ^, a good ambitious card routine is a monster reputation maker when you're starting out.
A great gimmick to have (that I think every magician should have) is Loops. You can find them at most any magic shop and they allow you to perform a killer Haunted Deck routine, as well as some other awesome magic.
Another simple effect is the Invisible Deck. It's hard to beat in terms of sleightless magic. You can make one yourself or purchase it from any magic shop. (If you have a higher budget, it would be worth checking out Invisible Card by Blake Vogt here at T11.)
Probably my favorite effect they have at T11 would be Counterfeit by Wayne Houchin. There is a bit of sleight of hand, but work at it for a few hours and you should have no problem with it. And as far as I'm concerned, this is the best and most visual piece-by-piece t&r effect on the market.
Another great effect at T11 is Psycho by Spidey. I watched the trailer and purchased it and I thought it would be a cool trick to have, but after performing it the first time, I realized it was so much greater than that. The reactions you can get with this effect are absolutely incredible!
As a side note, if you haven't picked up Card College by Roberto Giobbi yet, I would highly recommend it. It will teach you everything you need to know to go from complete beginner to semi-pro.
Best of luck!
