If you're going onstage, I would honestly avoid black mostly because it's likely that the background of the stage is black. Of course if you're putting together everything then you can make the background whatever color you'd like! But anyway, you can probably go for a deep red, maroon, or navy blue, that way it'll be enough to show a contrast between you and the stage but at the same time be dark enough to hide the method. Also make sure that you don't have any lighting shining down from behind you as it will make the ** visible as well. Good luck!

Be very careful about your lighting above and behind you....I spoke to Kevin James about this at one of his lectures and I'd test out the lighting ahead of time or your busted.
