I have a brief question inspired by another post. I have a youtube channel but I have it mainly so that I can see my progress in card magic as the years go by. I do not mind if someone pops in to see what I am doing. But, since I am technically a Youtuber, does that make me any less of a card magician??

In my opinion, not at all. You keep doing you man!

I think the general consensus of the community would be happy if you only reveal tricks that you have created or rather not reveal anything at all. But if you are just uploading videos of you practicing, I don't think anyone is going to have any beef with that except for YouTube trolls. Those people are unpredictable.

Thanks Tyler and Mclintock for the support, I was just feeling some uncertainty I started with card magic around 2012 and I only have 35 videos on my YouTube channel. So as you may have guessed I'm a bit of a fundamentalist when it comes to card magic. I try to pick the most hard hitting of sleights and effect. Granted , I'm not perfect in my execution of these sleights nor am I going to be perfect in my attention to the details in all of card magic.(e.g. I do not have a video on my youtube channel that has the backslip, sure it may be in a trick like Aces off the cuff. However I don't have a stand alone video for that sleight). My goal right now is to just keep growing my YouTube channel with images and videos of a similar feel to them. For example my Slow-Motion Four Aces video has a snail as the image and everyone can relate to a snail being slow. My Cold Deck Cut video has a thermometer with an arrow pointing to roughly freezing temperature etc ....etc...)

The whole reason I got into magic is because I saw how happy it could make some people and I really wanted to entertain people and make them happy like that.

I feel that YouTube is a great platform to reach a massive and distant audience (YouTube > Facebook imo). As long as your videos keep entertaining people and/or it makes you happy, I say keep going for it. Right now I'm really digging Justin Flom's YouTube vlogging series as well as Ekaterina's channel for reviews. I think it does not by any means make you any less of a cardist because you are taking advantage of a modern technology to further grow your audience and entertain them. Best of luck!

Oh man, I am so late to the party! Been pretty off since we got back from vacation.

You probably know this already, but I'll say it anyway.

I would put practice videos in a private section, and then have all of your 'flash-less' performances on video. I will say, I am in dire need of checking out your channel (which I will do today. Right after I find my wrist brace :p).

But hey, as long as your videos don't start with, 'Hey! I'm Gabriel, and I'm going to expose ____x____', everyone will be in happy land!

My Cold Deck Cut video has a thermometer with an arrow pointing to roughly freezing temperature etc ....etc...)

You live in New York! You could stand by a window and your thermometer would just drop down to freezing temperature anyway--even in April! :p
