Force From A Bag?

I am trying to build an effect to perform on stage and I need a quick fair way to force an object among 6 or 7 others. I thought about writing each of them on a piece of paper and forcing it from a bag. Does anybody know any good sources where I can learn this type of thing? Or if there are any other forces I can use?

Also, on another topic, does anybody know any devices that I can use to make smoke appear from a distance?

There is a paper force bag described in Mark Wilson's Complete Course that is easy to make. I know it is used in the Bigger Card Trick. You can also get clear force bags from any magic dealer. I don't like these because they don't look real. Best to try and make your own using gallon Ziploc Freezer Bags.

Alternatively, use some pieces of cardstock cut sleightly smaller than playing cards. Have the spectators write down the items on the cards. Read Tamariz's Five Points and apply the Crossing the Gaze principle as you insert the cards into a ungimmicked bag.

I can give you better suggestions if I know what objects you are trying to force and why.

I am trying to force a number (4) from 1-10 and a fruit from a bowl. It just seems easier to force it by using the bag thing but if there are any other forces I can use to get those.

oh, and what exactly do I get in the Five Points In Magic?

To force the numbers do what I mentioned about having a deck of numbered cards and applying Crossing the Gaze principle.

For the fruits, use equivoque. I think it is explained very well in Mark Wilson's book in his Bill in Lemon routine.

Knowledge, including the Crossing the Gaze Principle... which will help you do what you want to accomplish.

For the fruits I would use the pick two eliminate one force. For the numbers I would use a forcing bag or even a forcing envelope.

The PATEO force was exactly what I was thinking lol but I just thought it might take too much time away from the actual effect.

So the forcing bag I can find on one of the sources you listed above right? (What about the envelope?)

It takes some time to get the pace down.

I've always found that the PATEO force seems contrived except in limited circumstances where the presentaton lends itself to that sort of "game" (like my football playoff prediction effect where the spectator picks face down cards with two team's names on them and those teams play each other. I then decide which team looses and then I pick two teams...).

Why not use a sophisticated form of equovique? If you have 5 different fruits, ask them which is their favorite. Have them pick that one up and set it aside so they aren't influenced by which one they would want to eat. Have them close thier eyes and then pick up two of the remaining fruits throw them into the audience. Tell them to pick one of the remaining fruits and toss it to you. Put that fruit aside as the selection.
