I just got a gig to preform at my first fundraiser. And I was wondering what category does it fall under stage, close up, or a mixture?

It all depends on what the venue was. Were you on a stage? Were you strolling through a crowd? Were you table hopping? For example: I just did a benefit show for free in a middle school gymnasium in front of 350 people. I was on the gym floor with jet sets, sound system, mic, etc.

What does it matter what category it falls under? You are performing, raising money, and getting good experience.

well the gigi is in June so I have plenty of time to prepare but I think it is just in a park without any type of stage. And I'm not sure if cups and balls or other trick like that would be over kill for this type of event.

Find out ASAP what that venue is. That way you will have plenty of time to prepare. Always go prepared for walkaround cause you never know what will get sprung on you at the last minute....
