Good Magic that can be viewed from far away?

I am performing in a situation where there are quite a few people all around me, and some of them are far away. I am already in the process of learning a rope routine (fiber optics extended) and would like to learn some more magic like it (though no more rope)
I am performing surrounded, so nothing TOO angle sensitive.
Thanks in advance,
David

Not that far away, 5-10 meters. I learned a lot of close-up (in fact it's all I ever learnt so far) and I think it's probably a good idea to learn at least a few routines that I can perform on stage, or can show to a large crowd.
I don't usually perform to children, but some things are entertaining to everyone, so that sort of stuff is OK.
I think the magic colouring book is a bit TOO famous now. Not a lot of people know the method (in fact, I don't know it either. mabe short and long?), but a lot of people have already seen the effect, so it could be less impressive to them.

David:

First off, most parlor and stage routines are not performed surrounded. You have 90 to 180 degrees behind you covered by the back of the room / back of the stage. Even with busking, you will have your back angles covered.

The distances you are talking about is what is called parlor magic -- as if you are performing in someone's living room. Essentially, you can go up to 100 people with that type of magic. The classics play very well here -- cups and balls, billiard balls, miser's dream, sponge balls, linking rings, etc.

My suggestion is to get a subscription to Genii Magazine. It is $35 for a digital only subscription. With the subscription you get access to 77 years of back issues. There are a lot of great routines in the Magicana section as well as routines by Roberto Giobbi, Jim Steinmeyer, Max Maven, Dani DaOrtiz that can be performed in parlor settings. Really, it is a matter of finding routines and presentations that excite you. There also are a lot of reviews that give you a sense for the quality of products.

I could list a bunch of products that I like, but this is something you have to find out for yourself and figure out what you like based on your performing style.

Is it 35$ per month, or is it a permanent purchase?
Also:
Do you happen to know any good, relatively cheap, preferably clean linking rings that are (preferably) awesome?
What is billiard ball magic and miser's dreams?
thanks.

Great questions David, Google will be your best friend for exploring what these are. It's great to see some routines and see if if it's something you can make work for you. I like the size of the Ninja Rings. Look very nice in person.

The $35 is for a year's subscription to Genii.

For linking rings, relatively cheap is, well relative, especially when I paid close to $400 for my set and think they are relatively cheap compared to sets that are more than $750. This website here: http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/index...1b17a1ed7424661b412c15e&keyword=linking+rings
has a good variety at a good price. I have 12 inch rings, but the 10 and 8 inch sizes are good too. Any of the DVDs listed there should be good enough for you to get a basic routine (I like the L&L DVDs because you get a variety of styles). If you want to go advanced, get Levent's DVD set or Pete Biro's The Real Secret of the Linking Rings book.

I also like the Ninja Rings, but those are more close up than for a large group.

What is billiard ball magic and miser's dreams?
thanks.

Billiard ball magic consists of manipulation of small, balls around the size of golf balls.

Here's one of my favorite billiard ball acts by Arthur Trace

Misers dream consists of the magician producing coins from various places on stage.

Here's Teller's version
