Good opener ideas?

I am looking for a good start to a rope or a card routine.
The rope routine is fiber optics extended (I could blabber about misdirection, take out a box of cards, and pull a string out of it, i guess)
The card routine is not specific. something like unboxing/boxing the deck? producing it?

Oh, I forgot to mention, Any ways to end the routine would be good. (Reboxing, Transforming, Vanishing?)
Also, Dean, That seems really cool! A few questions, though:
Is the card case at the beginning real and examinable?
Can it be done openly, without cover, midair, without movement for cover, etc?
Can it be done in one hand?
Is it examinable before and after, without switches?
And, lastly, can you re-box the deck at the end, without having suspicious bladder problems that force you to go to the toilet with your deck of cards and assorted glue products?

1. It is not examinable. However you could start by taking the cards out of the box, put the box away and then make it reappear and disappear afterwards.
2. The explanation teaches the various ways that the box can vanish or appear (most of which are shown in the trailer). There are almost no angle issues with this trick however it does take some practice to make it look smooth.
3. No.
4. You can spread through the cards before and after but you couldn't hand them out to be examined without ditching the gimmick first. The box can't be examined.
5. The trick is meant to end with the cards rather than the box. That being said you are left with "something extra" at the end. Ditching the gimmick is essentially the same as ditching a playing card and this is taught on the explanation.
