Hello everybody.
I'm new here on the forums, but I've been into magic for a while, maybe around 6 years. I've had moments though where I lost interest in magic and moved onto other hobbies, but now I've regained my interest and am hoping to expand my knowledge of magic and through practice make my sleights better.
What got me into magic? I have to say the thrill of being able to do something 'impossible' in the minds of the spectators, being able to strip away logic from their minds and bring them to a place of wonder.
The first time I encountered magic was when I was four years old when we went to a magic show in Magic Mountain I think it was. But at that time I didn't understand the concept of magic. The magician performing there did this illusion where he would be onstage, a curtain would be placed in front of him hiding him from view, and then when the curtain would be dropped the magician would have disappeared.....only to reappear within the audience, a few rows behind where I was sitting. When I saw this, I wasn't thinking "holy sh** how did he do that?!?" (well what four year old would say that anyways) I actually thought that what the magician did was something normal that was common to do, only that I was the only one who didn't know how to do it....remember I am four years old at the time and have never seen any magic before. So I shrugged off the illusions as nothing of a big deal....
A few years later when I experienced the magic coloring book, i was hooked into magic. Its funny how a big illusion like the one I explained above had no effect on me while a simple coloring book got me into magic.
Well that's my story. I look forward to where my magic can take me.......
