A Land Down Under
Firstly let me say I normally enjoy your live performances, however;

Personally I think was terrible and I belevie your spectator felt that way too. He was obviously being polite but really was not enjoying the experience you were trying to share with him. Given the nature of his 'fame' and the event you were at he was definately on his best behavour, however you could tell that if that was a reall performance at any other venue he would not have accepted it.

There were many moments that he was simply not impressed. I am not going to pick apart every little thing you did wrong but I am prepaired to help you. My belief on any trick is there are three parts, the real method (sleights gimmicks etc) the spectators belief (and also logical thinking process) and the most important part is the discconection of these two.

For the most part this customer was fairly clued in and a simple place the card on top, straight into a double undercut obviously did not fly with him. On a similar note you can tell the weakest point of the routine is when the jokers get replaced on the deck, whilst this is for the most part normal in sandwich routines, if you have a clued inspectator there are better methods. One being palming off the selection so there is some seperation between the deck and the sandwiching cards.

My advise to you is to watch the performance again and see all the parts that could be improved. Then improve them, spectators are a lot smarter than magicians give them credit for rationally thinking your routine was the exact method that is used and the spectator knew it.

Either imporve the physical method and create those disconnects or improve the psychology of the effect.
