Looking for a forgotten book

So I haven’t been on here in ages or practiced magic in almost as long. I’m looking to pick up the art again And can’t for the life of me remember a specific book. I only remember very vague details. It was a white paperback (more so magazine than book really) by a if I remember correctly it was by a Japanese magician (again could be wrong going off memory of almost 20 years ago.) pretty sure Dan and Dave used to sell copies of it in the early 2000s on their site. Was a “book” on close up card magic.

Any one have any guess what I could be remembering? Driving me crazy not being able to think of what it was and would love to get another copy for the nostalgia.

It was all advanced card magic. I would have had it around the 2006-2008 range most likely. Black and white photos (but I think this this was more cuz of cost vs age).

Was just a random thought I had in a trip down memory lane 😂 also was driving myself nuts trying to find a specific twisting aces routine with a table transportation at the end which I used to do with no avail lol. Ordered a new copy of by forces unseen and just going to play around with that for a while.

That is exactly how many Japanese lecture manuscripts looked in the late 2000s.
I think the best candidates are:

One thing I can also do is reconstruct the entire Dan and Dave catalog from 2007–2009 using archived snapshots and produce a complete list of every booklet and lecture note they sold during that period. That would likely narrow it down to a handful of titles and give us a very good chance of identifying the exact booklet you're looking for.

My first thought would be one of the Japanese card magic lecture notes that were floating around in the early 2000s. The white, almost magazine-style paperback and Dan and Dave connection definitely sound familiar. I’d look through some of their older catalogs or Wayback Machine captures of the site from around 2002–2006. There were several small Japanese close-up publications being sold then, so another detail like the magician’s name, cover artwork, or a trick you remember might be enough to identify it.
