Several months ago we had some interesting conversations here and @ E about a thing I call "Urban Shamanism"; a unique form of magic that's slowly seeing the light of day, in which the presentation is deliberately done as "real" in the manner our primitive ancestors would have done. Not for the sake of hustling folks, mind you, but more as a means by which to remember where magic came from . . . how natural elements were used vs. nifty flashy props, wallets, etc.
I've seen some very cool stuff in the months since those conversations and I admit, I'm being very picky as to what I will accept (so don't think like a magician doing a "show" or 'stunt'). But it's not just tricks that I'm after, I'm after novel methods, story lines, etc.
STORY LINES should be modeled off of the parables one would find in the Bible and other sacred texts as well as Aesop's fables. . . the objective being to educate via the magical intrigues being presented. For an example, how the Rice Bowls could be incorporated into a lesson about fall harvest and the Sabots observed by people tied to the earth religions.
Yes, we're looking at the use of a "conventional" effect but then again, the Rice Bowls have a storied history as do Lotta type containers, and those that allowed you to swap one liquid for another (like Water for Wine).
This is a very unique challenge but all are welcomed and needless to say, everyone that has a contribution that's accepted into the book, will get a free copy.
Consider yourselves challenged!
