Texa$, with a dollar sign
I've a question:

I know that for the most optimal response, a trick that plays out in a spectators hands gets stronger reactions. So, within a set, how much or how many tricks should play in a spectators hands?

Just for a corporeal Number to play with; in a set of three or four tricks, should they all play in their hands or only one or two so you can get variety?

You should do as many tricks in their hands that will enhance the performance and keep the rhythm moving appropriately. There's no formula for this.

I would say that ending the trick in spectator's hands has worked the best for me. It gives them control, escalates to curiosity, and leaves them hanging with the feeling of surprise. I would say that more than one is excessive in a set of 3-4 tricks.

I'm going to have to agree with RealityOne.. Focus on the imagination. J.J. Abbrams (I hope I spelled that right) has create a whole career based on focusing on the imagination.. and letting the audience complete the sequence themselves.

What comes to my mind? A card to envelope.. only the reveal is the envelope with a card sealed inside and they are left with a "Do I really want to know?" feeling. Much more powerful than a "Hey watch my fingers flick these cards. Just some thoughts.
