Needle through arm/hand

Hello!
I had seen David Blaine had done a needle through bicep and hand trick. I know that they are not actually tricks they are real. I was wondering if there was an effect out there that was much safer such as a gimmick that can start and end clean. Thanks

The needle never went through his hand. That was an ice pick. That was more of a physical stunt of endurance rather than a magic effect. He had been working on that for 10-15 years using acupuncture on his hand to scar the tissue so his hand wouldn't bleed when stabbed in that area.
