So I had an idea for an ebook called I.M. and that stands for Intimate Moments. The book was to be about magic/mentalism that could be seen as 'beautiful' if you will. By that I mean magic like Shane Blacks TnR leaf underwater or Paul Harris's version of TnR and the turtle from drawing. Stuff like that. Now what I wanted to be different is that I'd like you guys to tell me what you would like to see in the book. I think ten or so effects of that nature would suffice so if anyone wants to participate, please feel free to do so.

Thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but are you asking us to suggest magic effects so that you will come up with methods that will be published in this ebook? In other words, the only thing you have right now is the idea for a book and nothing yet for what it is supposed to contain?

OK. If that is what you are asking for, here's my opinion. I think you are going about it the wrong way. If you have something interesting and useful in your arsenal and you think the magic community will appreciate it, go ahead and publish it (after doing the necessary amount of research and proper crediting). If you simply ask around the forums, you might get dozens of ideas, and you will then have to find methods for them, research them, test them on laymen and so on. I don't think that is efficient. That might be why nobody in the business has done things things way before.

Well it was a new way to approach it. It was my way of testing my own creativity. I wanted to see if you guys had something you would like to see and try to come up with a way to do it without researching anything. I don't think I'm going about it the "wrong" way. Just because something is new doesn't mean it's wrong.

When I said you were going about it the wrong way, I didn't mean it as a slight on you personally. I just meant that this would be an inefficient way to do things.

Supposing one person asks you to include a book test, another asks for a TNR, another asks for some geek magic, yet another wants some new coin magic and finally someone wants some rubber band magic. You obviously cannot include all of this (I can't think of anyone who is an expert in all of these things). Even if you try to create four new effects out of the suggestions, it is still a big task for you, and it might not even be something you enjoy. Why would you create something if you didn't feel passionate about it?

The point is that if you just release material that is in line with your interests and passion, you will feel much more confident about it and the community can then evaluate it as they see fit. When you ask for suggestions, people will tell you what interests them personally and you may have to figure things out from scratch.

Mk Ill specify: Magic: Anything but coins because I'll admit I am the worst magician ever with coins.
Mentalism: Try me. That sounds pompous but I enjoy a challenge.

It won't be bad for me. I love creating. It gets me thru school days. I sit with a notebook and think of new gimmicks and sleights and write them down. All day.

I really just wanna try it. I believe in myself enough to try.
